Kissing toads and a really BIG can

Finding your prince!
Finding a good hairdresser is a lot like dating. Sometimes you have to kiss a lot of toads before you find your Prince. And when you're still in the "toad" phase--things can get awkward. There are a caveat of excuses and lies for both dating and hating your hairdresser.

"No it's wonderful, I really like it, it's different" (you hate the cut and color)
"I'll call you." (flat out lie)
"I've just been really busy" (you have absolutely no plans to ever get back in touch or call)
"Thank you so much, I'll see you later" (sayonara sucker I'm never coming back!)

Thankfully I met Tony from Salon TONY in McLean, VA. Tony was kind enough to offer me and a friend of mine his services of a cut, color, and blow-dry. I was so nervous because I thought this is going to go one of two ways. Really good or really bad, and quite frankly--I'm used to the latter. But I finally found my PRINCE! The cut, color and products were amazing. I left that salon feeling like Cinderella. No more kissing toads for me. And the proof is in the pudding. Check it out.

Before--smiling but nervous
My friend Kristin who rolled the di with me
There was quite a lot of hair to work with
Is it going to turn out ok?

BIG thumbs up and BIG thanks to Salon Tony!

MONSTER "BFC" CAN
I am staging an intervention for a friend of mine who drinks 2 of these cans a day. Have YOU seen this can?! Or as I like to call it "heart attack in a bottle"

The Monster Energy B.F.C., one can only assume the acronym beans BIG F****** CAN, which ain't no lie. This can comes in at a whopping 32 ounces and has 108 grams of sugar and 400 calories. I cannot even think of a reason as to why anybody would want to drink this! And HOW does my friend manage to wash down two of these a day? Do you know of anybody who has a bad habit like this? These Monster energy cans are ridiculous! If so,e-mail us at dconheels@gmail.com

Lauren Conrad, Ceviche, and I heart Apple

LA CANDY AND SWEET LITTLE LIES:

This Saturday M, and I will be interviewing hotty pototty Lauren Conrad The former star and fashion icon of The Hills. Ms. Conrad has been touring all over the country to promote her series of books LA Candy and Sweet Little Lies. (There are 3 books in her series) We have so much to ask Lauren and I can't wait to hear what she has been up to (besides being a #1 NY Times bestselling author, touring the country, and working on her clothing line) Geesh the girl works her butt off. And yes I am on TEAM LC nobody likes that Kristin girl, and nobody watches The Hills anymore now that Lauren has left the show. So what questions do you think we should ask her? I think I'll ask her to give me some tips on how she perfects those signature cat eyes with her black eyeliner . If you like her fresh beachy make-up watch this youtube video and give yourself a clean fresh look too.

Ok, so if seeing that pic of Lauren in her bikini made you feel a little less than stellar about your own body, don't fret-- I have the perfect recipe that is light, healthy and perfect for the summer to help you shed those pounds. I make this all the time (I'm still a heffer though because I wont give up on chocolate and baked goods j/k) So do as I say not as I do.

HOT BOD RECIPE OF THE WEEK:
Ceviche packs some serious flavor to those taste buds, you can always change up the recipe if you get bored, and it's healthy =)

Ceviche Recipe

Preparation time: 15 minutes to prepare, 3-4 hours to let sit. Always use the freshest fish possible. Make the same day you purchase fresh fish.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 lbs of firm, fresh red snapper fillets (or other firm-fleshed fish), cut into 1/2 inch pieces, completely deboned
  • 1/2 cup of fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 cup of fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 red onion, finely diced
  • 1 cup of chopped fresh seeded tomatoes
  • 1 serrano chili, seeded and finely diced
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • Dash of ground oregano
  • Dash of Tabasco or a light pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Cilantro
  • Avocado
  • Tortillas or tortilla chips

METHOD

In a non-reactive casserole dish, either Pyrex or ceramic, place the fish, onion, tomatoes, chili, salt, Tabasco, and oregano. Cover with lime and lemon juice. Let sit covered in the refrigerator for an hour, then stir, making sure more of the fish gets exposed to the acidic lime and lemon juices. Let sit for several hours, giving time for the flavors to blend. Check out that recipe and millions of others from your I-phone. And if you don't have an I-phone then get one!! And if you are not a Mac user then become one. It's that simple =)
