Art Jamz Photos and Video And Now in Crystal City!

ArtJamz now in Crystal City!

On Wednesday night, Markette, myself and fellow Artjammers took over the entire floor of a building in Arlington,Va., unleashing our inner artist while painting the night away. And while, I'm certainly no Piacsso, it really didn't matter, because the night was all about letting loose, having fun and getting creative.

The space was a masterpiece by itself.

ArtJamz is  an interactive, artistic and creative environment. Go with a group or go by yourself-- it doesn't matter. Between your fellow art -goers, the music, foobations (that's food and libations haha new word), and all that creativity in one room-you are bound to have an incredible time. Forget going out to dinner and a movie, where you can spend well over $100 bucks per person, spice it up, spend $60 and get creative! This is the perfect "date" outing as well. No awkward silences, or "interview talk" here, you can just focus on the art! Your'e relaxed and  in the moment, and even if there's absolutely no chemistry between you and your date, at least the night will be fun and you can always go home with your art work!

Art comes in all sizes, shapes, and forms. Creativity at its best!

Here's how it works:
Each participant receives a canvas on an easel, paint and materials and gets four hours to create an  original work of art, which is yours to take home. Wine, beer, and hors d'oeuvres, a dj spinning tunes, and your fellow Artjammers will help inspire you and get those creative juices flowing.  For me personally, the more I drank, the better my art!
Vanessa paints the night away.

And mark my words you guys,  ArtJamz is and will become so HUGE that I believe it will  expand and go nationwide. Oh and ArtJamz is available on Groupon, so now you can get a ticket for even cheaper.

And the pioneer behind this creative concept is Michael M. Clements--artist, painter, musician, director and producer.

Clements founded ArtJamz as a production of Genki Media LLC, a company dedicated to the incubation, consultation for and management of creative enterprises in the Washington DC metro area.

"The goal of Genki Media is to help foster the creative economy of the DC Metro Area on an independent and entrepreneurial small business level. Artjamz is one of the first projects we've undertaken, and it speaks directly to what Genki Media stands for-getting DMV residents creatively engaged," says Clements.

See what else founder Michael Clements had to say...

Four Loko... and why you should EAT your calories and not DRINK them

A popular energy drunk... oops, I mean energy drink... amongst college coeds is causing craziness on campuses near DC, and across the country...

Several universities and college towns have recently tried to ban Four Loko, a caffeinated beverage that contains 12 percent alcohol. The negative publicity comes after the drink was linked to a string of drunken-related illnesses that led to nine college students being rushed to an emergency room.

Now, the University of Maryland's police department in College Park wants to put out a pre-emptive smack down on the beverage, named after the Spanish word for "crazy."

Police are urging College Park's three liquor stores to stop selling the drink. The public safety department also issued a statement to the community warning that drinking just one 23.5-ounce can is the equivalent of downing a whole six-pack of beer.

The malt liquor's name apparently describes the four stages of "loco" or craziness that a drinker might go through after consuming an entire can.

What? You think I'm loco?
The FOUR STAGES OF CRAZY, according to the Urban Dictionary are:

Stage 1: Tipsy (loud, might stumble, laugh)
Stage 2: Drunk (embarrassing, stumbling, slight slur)
Stage 3: Wasted (heavy slur, falling)
Stage 4: Black Out (no ability to speak, vomiting, memory loss)

And, if that isn't enough to keep you away, then check this little ditty: each can (one serving) contains 660 calories!

660 calories per serving?!?!
I give it a thumbs down for that!

This is why you should EAT your calories, and not DRINK them.

Which brings me to a random thought:

I wonder how many pieces of pie Paula Deen could make to match the caloric equivalent of just one can of Four Loko? Hmmm...

Paula Deen getting a piece of the pie.

Oh, I can just imagine her response: "Honey, that should be easy!"

Markette

Kissing toads and a really BIG can

Finding your prince!
Finding a good hairdresser is a lot like dating. Sometimes you have to kiss a lot of toads before you find your Prince. And when you're still in the "toad" phase--things can get awkward. There are a caveat of excuses and lies for both dating and hating your hairdresser.

"No it's wonderful, I really like it, it's different" (you hate the cut and color)
"I'll call you." (flat out lie)
"I've just been really busy" (you have absolutely no plans to ever get back in touch or call)
"Thank you so much, I'll see you later" (sayonara sucker I'm never coming back!)

Thankfully I met Tony from Salon TONY in McLean, VA. Tony was kind enough to offer me and a friend of mine his services of a cut, color, and blow-dry. I was so nervous because I thought this is going to go one of two ways. Really good or really bad, and quite frankly--I'm used to the latter. But I finally found my PRINCE! The cut, color and products were amazing. I left that salon feeling like Cinderella. No more kissing toads for me. And the proof is in the pudding. Check it out.

Before--smiling but nervous
My friend Kristin who rolled the di with me
There was quite a lot of hair to work with
Is it going to turn out ok?

BIG thumbs up and BIG thanks to Salon Tony!

MONSTER "BFC" CAN
I am staging an intervention for a friend of mine who drinks 2 of these cans a day. Have YOU seen this can?! Or as I like to call it "heart attack in a bottle"

The Monster Energy B.F.C., one can only assume the acronym beans BIG F****** CAN, which ain't no lie. This can comes in at a whopping 32 ounces and has 108 grams of sugar and 400 calories. I cannot even think of a reason as to why anybody would want to drink this! And HOW does my friend manage to wash down two of these a day? Do you know of anybody who has a bad habit like this? These Monster energy cans are ridiculous! If so,e-mail us at dconheels@gmail.com
