Magnolia Makeup Review & Swatches

Photobucket

UM HELLO!!!! Tell me that Tia's eye color combo's are not the bomb!?! When I saw her colors I was so amazed by her talent but also the bright colors she used. I highly suggest saving Magnolia Makeup via Facebook. I always look forward to her posts and find her creativity refreshing. I've picked some of my favorites to show you, but really go and check out their page and be inspired!

I was contacted by Magnolia Makeup owners, Niala & Tia. They offered me to try a colorful cosmetics line out of New Orleans. These two sisters started the company after being frustrated by not finding colors in the market that were just not pigmented enough. This new company is impressive. Starting about a year ago, they have a clean and beautiful website. They also provide easy shopping and wonderful choices. Magnolia Makeup right out of New Orleans provides what I love... COLOR!!

I can say... I can't tell you how much I can relate to the sisters. Nothing is more frustrating than spending your hard earned money on a crappy product. I will not. That's why I take pride in my reviews, and take time to review each product. Let's just say I've learned to research before purchases a lot more lol.

It's also great to find a company to provide colors that are right up my alley. I've been contacted before by companies and there are many that don't provide the color I love to rock.

My Overall Review:

The pigments are gorgeous! I loveeee bright colors. OVER and over. I was so excited to receive these colors! They were blendable, pigmented and very true to color. I've seen some gorgeous pigments but then you try them and they fall flat. These hold up all day and pair up beautifully. Whoever chose the color combo's in the color wheel needs a raise! lol I loved the colors included and you can come up with endless color combos. It would make a great gift to give to send to someone who would love to experiment with color.

The logo is clean, and the packaging is cute. The website is very clean. As a customer it should be easy to go in, find what you need and make a purchase. That's what http://www.magnolia-makeup.com/ is all about. You will not have a hard time here. You can find a range of makeup providing blush, lipslicks, pigments, foundations and glitter!! I love glitter!! lol

One complaint is that you are getting 7 pigments for $17.00 whereas I can get 15 pigments for $14.99 at some other mineral companies. However, MAC sells pigments for $19.50 so really it's a great deal either way.

The colors I got were mostly matte pigments, so if you are iffy about using matte pigments these might not be for you. Applying matte pigments can be tricky, and a lot of them skip in color. I didn't have trouble with these pigments but you do have to apply by packing them with your brush. Using a fluffy brush can make the matte color fade in some areas.

In the end, I would recommend this company to anyone who isn't afraid of using color! Again, they would be a great gift and fun to use. I also look forward to purchasing some "Lipslicks" in the future. The colors look gorgeous and I'm very curious to try!

Look forward to a YouTube tutorial soon using Magnolia Makeup!

Color Wheel Review:
Price $17.50

Each pigment comes in a 5 gram jar. I do wish the color wheel did have a screw top on the outside packaging. I would love to travel with these, but you would need a tie or rubber band to keep shut. These pigments don't have sifters, but the single pigments do.

The wheel provides a mix of bright matte & sparkly pigments ranging in rich color.

Pros:
- 7 pigments for a lower price in comparison to higher named brands w/ same quality.
- Mix of matte/glittery pigments
- Nice range of colors included
- Blendable & long wearing

Cons:
- Could lower price
- Wish it had a screw top
- Pigments inside need name labeling for blogging/sharing purposes

Color Wheel $17.50

Single Pigment & Gliz & Glitter Review:
Price $5.00 Each 5 gram jar

These colors I just loved! Mostly cause I'm a blue, green, teal, turquoise kinda gal. I loved these colors!! I used these for a few weeks and have been loving the color combos I've been coming up with.

The glitter is my favo!! but who doesn't love glitter? You get a pretty good amount in a 10 gram jar. It's not filled to the top but for 5 bucks it isn't bad. I loved adding it when I went out with friends and it just was such a beautiful shade of purple.

Pros:
- Pigments for a lower price in comparison to higher named brands w/ same quality.
- Mix of matte/glittery pigments
- Nice range of colors
- Blendable & long wearing
- Sifters included
- Numbers on jars

Cons:
- matte pigments can provide problems for some
- Think there should be better number/name system for pigments

Single Pigments $5.00
(All Swatches are over Scandalous Eyeshadow Base)

Exposed Organics Review & Swatches (Vegan & Affordable!)

I recently got the chance to try Exposed Organics. I am never paid for my honest reviews. I only received the products for my review.

I went to look at the site, and was surprised to see her wide range of products. After being fed up from companies with so-called "organic" items. They started from shampoo to lip gloss, all mixed and made from their own kitchen! I must say I was quite impressed with the pigmentation of the eye shadows for being Vegan!

I received 10 eye dusts and a eyeshadow transformer. If you have no clue what a eyeshadow transfer does lol well most don't, so don't feel bad! This product allows you to make any eye dust into a wet liner, or foiled lid. Foiled means to wet the shadow and apply it to make it more pigmented and vibrant. It can be tricky, so I only tend to do it with shadows I know will hold up well. These do! I also really like the applicator squeeze bottle it's in. It makes a difference, and helps control how much you would like to use. It works well with your make up brushes and applies easy.

Each eye dust color is as vibrant as it is in it's jar. I can't get over how much you get for only $4.99 I mean a whole 7 grams! Really a great deal and very affordable. I am always looking for great make up for those with tight budgets.. like myself! lol but all of them are very easy to apply. The only eye dust I can see having "personal" issues is the red matte pigment "Ruby's Secret". I always have issues with matte pigments, since they are tricky to apply. I do find however if you place on top of eyeshadow it makes the matte shadow apply easier. Just because I said it's not easy to apply, does not say that this shadow is not super pigmented and gorgeous.. because it is!

I have two looks I did this weekend with two friends who came over (pictured above). I used these eye dusts both wet & dry and they applied like a dream! They both were impressed with the colors, and kept looking at their lids! lol I will be posting next their eyeshadow looks!

Serayge, is a gorgeous mint green I've been looking for!! I swear I've been looking for a color like this.. and so glad I received it.
Alexisescence is a gorgeous blue light violet color that has this iridescent duo tone that is sooo beautiful. You'll know how much I love iridescent eye shadows. Of of them are great and it's very hard to pick out my favorites. I'm sure you can see why!

I hope you can check out this vegan company and check out some of their products. Also, if you have bought from them, please let me know your thoughts below! I hope you enjoy the swatches and looks I have coming up featuring this cosmetics line.

Eye Dust (7 grams!) only $4.99!
Nectar "Eye shadow transformer" ( .5 oz!) only $4.99!

Date Night Look and Sally Hansen Swatches & Review (Dollar Tree!)

I did this look to go out on a date with my honey to see Ninja Assassin. Movie was ehh. I love martial arts movies, but this didn't impress me. We still had a nice time and had some goood nachos lol.

I recently went to the Dollar Store with my honey who pointed out these beautiful Sally Hansen lip glosses. They are quite larger than most lip glosses and for a dollar...pshh don't have to ask me twice lol. I wasn't sure what to expect but I have heard in the past that Sally Hansen lip glosses were very pigmented. I can honestly say that these lip glosses are amazing. The pigmentation are way better than any MAC lip glass I've purchased. The red is so gorgeous in person. Each totally multidimensional in color. The pink (Orchid) has a gold shimmer to it but not like glitter clumps like MAC dazzle glass. The nude rose color (Ginger) is my favorite after the red. It's sooo beautiful in person. I need to go back for a second purchase, because I can't get over how great these are. I will be probably trying more lip glosses from Sally Hansen. I know you guys will love these and more important they are affordable! I mean for $1.00 they really really shine.

My girl @thattallchick25 from twitter was able to find these at her local Dollar Tree, so be sure to stop by and see if you can get these for only $1.00!!

What I Used:
Eyes:
Heavenly Naturals eye primer
Heavenly Naturals in "Vanilla Crush" (brow highlight)
Heavenly Naturals in "Pure Bliss" (lid)
Heavenly Naturals in "Desire" (middle of lid)
Heavenly Naturals in "Soulful" (tear ducts)
Heavenly Naturals in "Swagger" (outer crease & lower lashline)
Heavenly Naturals in "Kitten" (to darken crease)

Blush:
Prestige Blushing Duo in "Raffia"

Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. II (Review & Swatches)

I just recently celebrated my birthday on Oct 7th. Two days later I received a special card in the mail from my sister soul Debbie aka aiversonbabe on twitter. I loved her birthday card, and she sent me a awesome certificate for Ulta! I was so shocked and honestly it was so generous of her. I'm very lucky to have a friend like her, and this is not just because of my gift. She is a awesome friend who is there when you need her, who listens, makes you laugh, and is a great friend. For that, is a true gift to have! It's very hard to find supportive women out there, that aren't selfish, that aren't judgemental, but make you grow as a person. For that I wanted to give her a special lil thank you again. I always think of her when I use my Book of Shadows! <3>

REVIEW
______________________________________

So after my bad experience with the "Sustainable Palette" (hinges broke after two uses) lol not so "sustainable". I was quite put off of Urban Decay after that. Although, I still do use their 24/7 liners almost everyday & I love them.

When I went to Ulta I wasn't sure on buying this palette, but I was quite impressed with the amount of shadows, liners, and mini potion that was included. I mean it comes out only $3.00 per eye shadow! I call that a bargain! You girls know me and my bargins ;D lol I thought it was a great combination of matte, shimmer & glitter.
I do have issues with their glitter shadows, with all the fallout. I know many women who can't stand the glitter shadows as well.. but since there was only two that were so glittery I still went for it.

Each of the shadows are so pigmented, and soft. I love how my brush only needs to touch the shadows lightly to pick up such color. Each shadow is gorgeous in it's own way. Which is great, because the one color I wasn't sure about ..is my favorite! I love "Sellout" it's a plain looking color but a awesome highlight. I've been using it every day and I'm worried about using it to much! lol. Might have to restock up on that. I did try the glitter shadows again, using a more sticky base, like a NYX pencil, and had less fallout. Which was good because the color Midnight Cowboy Rides Again is gorgeous on the lid.

The liners are by far my favorite product from Urban Decay. They are so vibrant, and I have many. This palette comes with Zero (very black) & Bourbon (sparkly rich brown). They glide each time so smooth, with no drag which is easy on the eyes. I was lucky, because I was almost out of my old Zero liner. ;D Even though travel size, these liners will last you for a very long time & not just on wear.

I was very pleased with my purchase, and if they come out with another book of shadows I'll be sure to buy again. I am very impressed with this book of shadows, on the quality, price, & daily usage. Please let me know if you have the same product and your thoughts on it in the comment section!
