OK, Christmas is just around the corner and if you're anything like me then you haven't even begun to shop! I know, I know, there was Black Friday... and Cyber Monday... but oops! I kinda bought stuff for myself :-o
Now it's crunch time. What do we do?
Online shoppers: you can still find post-Cyber Monday deals on sites like Groupon and Living Social where you can literally buy a store credit at 50% off or even more, print it out and use it the next day.
But, if you have to ship a present to say family in Skokie, Ill. or Dubuque, Iowa then you can save on shipping with coupon codes, which are all listed on Freeshipping.org. The site also lists major online retailers, like Best Buy and Macys who offer free shipping through the holidays.
Old School Shoppers: (meaning you actually leave your house and buy items in person) then consider heading down to your local craft market for cool and unique finds. Because the craftsmen are usually business owners, too, then you might be able to negotiate on prices if you plan to purchase multiple items.
The Downtown Holiday Market at the corner of 7th and F Streets in DC is open from noon until 8 o' clock everyday from now through Thursday, Dec. 23.
Check out these cool finds I discovered during a recent visit.
Turquoise and gold snowflake earrings. $24
Hand painted Gothic-inspired jewelry boxes by Paul Bierman of Box Boy. Prices vary.
Eclectic mini posters set in sculpted frames. $20
Photographic Collages of DC landmarks designed by this lover of all things historic, Matthew Parker.

ABOUT TOP RANK:
Top Rank started out by Mohamed Numan and Yvette Chaupis with basic principles in mind right out from its conception; authenticity, quality, style, distinctiveness and price. Top Rank has grown into a vision, a vision to bring authentic European military style vintage clothing that cannot be sought after at the best retailers in the country. Top Rank wanted to do this, as it saw a major trend in the industry to emulate military style fashion and wanted to find the source of this trend. As a result, Top Rank saw the vision, to not only bring authentic vintage pieces, sometimes over 40- years -old, but to bring it at a price that many could afford who would not have been able to had they gone to a Nordstrom or Macy's. In most cases the most expensive wool coats may cost $500 or $600 dollars at minimum at retail stores, while they are below $200 here at Top Rank. Top Rank's official launch has yet to be announced but the fashion statement has already attracted artists for sponsorship and crowds at eastern market here in the capital with the website launching within a few days @www.toprankvintage.com.
CELEBRITY DOPPELGANGER
Guess what time it is?.... It's time for Celebrity Doppelganger. This week's doppelganger is DC ON HEELS fan Chelsea Taylore. This raven-haired beauty has a blend of looks ranging from Madonna(her number 1 look-alike,) to actress Leelee Sobeiski (remember her from that thriller movie the Glass House?!) And coming in at 78% is Taylore's most glamorous celeb-look alike--the one the only Elizabeth Taylor. That's fitting considering they have the same last name minus the letter E. What did you think about this weeks celeb dopp? Was it spot on or what?
Want to be our next pick for Celebrity Doppelganger? Then send us a message on Facebook or e-mail us and will feature you as our next look-alike!

33rd ANNUAL KENNEDY CENTER HONORS: Today five of the most well respected individuals who have "spent their lives enriching, inspiring and elevating the cultural vibrancy of our nation and the world," will be celebrated this year, said Kennedy Center Chairman David M. Rubenstein.
This year's honorees are set to receive one of the most prestigious honors an individual in the arts can hold. The Honors have been compared to a knighthood in Britain, or the French Legion of Honor--the quintessential reward for a lifetime's endeavor.
And the five individuals who will be honored this year are singer and songwriter Merle Haggard;
composer and lyricist Jerry Herman;
choreographer and director Bill T. Jones;
songwriter and musician Paul McCartney;
and television host and actress Oprah Winfrey.
This Annual Honors Gala has become one of the highlights of the Washington Cultural Year, intersecting Washington, Hollywood and New York City for a star-studded evening. Each year guest performers are kept a secret until the actual show is in progress. Why do I have a feeling that Lady Gaga will be one of this year's performers? It's just a hunch but she has been everywhere lately.
And check out last year's honoree Bruce Springsteen being introduced by President Obama. "I'm the president but he's the BOSS"quipped Obama. Last year honorees included Bruce Springsteen, Robert Dinero, Mel Brooks, Grace Bumbry and Dave Brubeck.
OK speaking of HONORS. Do the honors of some great gift giving this year. Here are four fun and affordable ideas for some great gift giving this year.
#1 Gentleman, gift your lady with a beautiful piece of bling. If ya' don't wanna put a ring on it this year, than put a necklace on it. A beautiful Fleur De Lis necklace at that. It's fun, feminine, and beautiful, plus it wont break the bank. Go to Nordstroms for a wide selection or online at one of the most affordable sites out there Overstock.com
#2
When I was a kid I was obsessed with Gumball Machines and as an adult--I still am! Yes I am a grown woman who still grabs that quarter out of my purse in hopes of scoring my favorite colored gumball (pink) out of the machine. I think I will be 80-years-old and still reaching for that quarter with my dentures and all! You can gift it to one of the younger ones in the fam, unless you have a bonafide gumball grown-up addict like me in the family. This site retroplanet has some nice affordable machines.
#3
I think a great idea to give to your co-worker or boss are these personalized M$M's.
It's delicious, thoughtful and affordable and there is also a coupon code for a discount.
#4 And last but not least I am obsessed with these necklaces!
Scarves are a staple for both their warmth and oomph they can give a plain boring sweater or tee. I love thick chunky bold necklaces but this year I will be rocking the fall/ winter version of a funky trendy necklace made out of fabric. It's different and unique and is an option for a great gift to give! Check out the selection, prices and patters here.
