Taming and Shaping the Brow--The Best Kits

Eyebrows are getting lots of attention these days--and the consensus for fall is a thicker and more defined brow. I've heard many times that brows frame your face and can make a huge difference in how you look but I don't think I really believed it until I had my brows done professionally.

Daiva at Salon Roi is one of the best at brow tinting and shaping-- she is a perfectionist who meticulously shapes, tweezes and tints and manages to create a perfect looking brow where there were just some sparse hairs--she is truly an eyebrow magician!

In between appointments, when left to our own devices it might be worth investing in some of the kits and tools available in stores and here are some of the latest:

The Hollywood eyebrow guru to the stars is Anastasia http://www.anastasia.net. Apparently many A-listers can't be seen on the red carpet without a trip to her Beverly Hills salon. If that's a bit beyond your budget you can purchase one of her 31 different eyebrow related products in beauty and department stores.

In the interest of space here is the most comprehensive kit she offers--the 7 Item Brow Book. It's apparently like having a brow salon at home and has seven pieces including tweezers, brow powder duo, 4 brow stencils, dual ended brush, brow gel and highlighting pencil. It's a $161.oo value for $85.00 right now at Nordstrom.

A company called Billion Dollar Brows http://www.billiondollarbrows.com has a tool that is much less expensive than the name and has been featured in many magazines and tv shows. Their claim to fame is the Brow Buddy tool--which creates an arch by taking into account your face shape to give you symmetrical, beautifully shaped brows. They also have a salon in Beverly Hills (are you sensing a theme?) but their kit is available locally at Beauty 360--the beauty product store owned by CVS that carries prestige and niche brands. The Brow Buddy Kit includes the tool, brush, sharpener, white pencil and an instructional guide plus DVD. The kit is $35 and is available at Beauty 360 at 1350 Connecticut Avenue, NW at Dupont Circle.

Benefit Cosmetics has a kit they call Brows A Go-Go that includes tools for your brows and eyes combined. In this kit you'll get 2 shades of brow powder, brow wax, min-tweezers, brush, how to guide plus liner, eyebright and highlighter powder for the brow bone. The kit is $38.00 and is available at http://www.benefitcosmetics.com.

Then there is the website that let's you create your own kit based on the shape and type of eyebrows you have or want. It's a bit like the dress up kits you had as a kid where you could change the outfits on the cutout. For $43.60 the site http://www.eybrowz.com let's you customize your kit with a choice of stencils from 100 plus different shapes (who knew there were that many!) , stencil holder, 2 eyebrow powders, white pencil, 3 brushes, instructions and pouch to keep it all together.
